Another Article on Broward Transitional Center in Pompano Beach

In yet another article about Immigration Judge Rex Ford, the Huffington Post highlights the issues at the Broward Transitional Center in Pompano Beach, Florida. Front and center is the culture at the facility where they seem to have a policy of not releasing detained immigrants on bond. In the case highlighted, a twelve year old boy writes to Judge Ford begging him not to deport his father.

Judge Ford has been the subject of past articles detailing his hard line on granting bond to detained immigrants. On the other side of the coin, many of the detained immigrants denied bond have extensive bad driving records or DUI’s causing Judge Ford to deem them a danger to the community. Danger to the community is one of the factors to be considered when deciding on bond.

The article in the Huffington Post quotes Immigration Attorney Sammy Aliferis who is Of Counsel to our Miami Office. Mr. Aliferis represented the boy’s father during removal proceedings.
