Today, May 21, 2013, the Senate Committee who has been working on Comprehensive Immigration Reform voted, almost without dissent, to send the bill to the Senate floor for a vote of the full Senate. The Committee worked tirelessly to produce a consensus for a fair and comprehensive bill that will fix the current immigration laws along with increasing border security.
This brings us yet one step closer to comprehensive immigration reform. In the end, there were compromises made that will disappoint some immigrant advocates. Overall, though, this is a positive step forward.
